A Quickie For Entourage

…as in quickie blog post, you dirty-minded blog reader(s)! So the last season of Entourage premiered tonight and it was everything I expected and less: bros, chicks, bros being bros, cars, awkward acting by real actors in cameos… everything that encompasses an episode of Entourage except for the usual of Vince giving into his vices (which was pretty much all last season was about), such as screwing random chicks (or in last season’s case, a porn star), doing drugs, and drinking brewskis with the broskis. I admit, I was obsessed with the first few seasons of the series after getting into the show during my freshmen year at BU — watching every season I could on HBO On Demand, my older bro’s DVDs, and Netflix-ing the rest of the series. When I get into a show, I don’t half-ass it…I fully couch potato-commit to it. Thus began my obsession with Adrian Grenier as well (when I wasn’t busy being infatuated with John Krasinski).

But after the last couple seasons, I realized how exhausted the storylines had become, with not much help from the forced cameos by whoever the hell they seemed to throw into an episode. I enjoyed the show during its prime years, and now I feel too invested in it to stop watching now (especially since they only have 8 episodes for their last season left)…which is how I found myself paying $20 to go to what I thought was a screening of the season premiere followed by a Q&A by the cast (all four bros, Jeremy Piven, & creator/writer Doug Ellin) at the Paley Center for Media in NY (once known as the Museum of TV & Radio, aka my fave museum as a kid…go to a museum to watch old episodes of Friends and some old awards show honoring past female comedians like Lucille Ball? Don’t mind if I do!). What it ended up being was me sitting in a separate, tiny theater on the second floor, watching a screen of the cast answering questions by a moderator on the first floor. They played a couple promo reels, but nothing I couldn’t probably watch on HBO On Demand Extras. No episode screening. No opportunity to ask them what it’s like to work for Marky Mark (and if they call themselves the Funky Bunch behind his back).

But I did manage to get a picture with Adrian Grenier, my once (one-sided) college love (which I did not confess to him). Of course my flash wasn’t on, but he totally touched my camera. And our shoulders touched. Not as intimate as my meeting (slash stalking down of) John Krasinski, but it kinda made the $20 I paid a little worth it. And yeah, I look like his awkward and less genetically-gifted younger sister here:

Cheesing HARDCORE as Vince/Adrian takes the picture.

Ok this blog post ended up being a little longer than a quickie, but here’s one last pic I managed to get before the event started and while the cast was on the red carpet:

The Turtle & The Hair

Turtle (aka Jerry Ferrera) & Johnny Drama (aka Kevin Dillon) were being interviewed on the red carpet above when I took this quick pic. Turtle is GLARING at me and either thinking “I want to create a life with this magnificent woman taking an artistic picture of me” or “Why the HELL is this weirdo creepily taking a picture on her tippy toes before she is ushered into a tiny closed-off room with other weirdos who paid $20 to hear us say ‘brotherhood’ for every other question asked and hear Jeremy Piven boast about his acting skills??” One or the other, it’s hard to tell with this facial expression.
